rovaniemi detail::~8 km north to Arctic Circle and the wierdly touristic Santa Cave

8:30 bus to the Arctic / Santapark.  could easily tell I was sharing this ride with a number of half-alseep Finnish people who were unenthusiastically on their way to work at the various gift shops there, selling canned reindeer meat and aurora borealis calenders.   fortune was on my side, as in a couple of hours i saw the painted latitude line marked in the crumbling cement with no one else around, had a nice walk in the woods under the blaring sun (getting a sunburn in the Arctic seems wrong, but their summers are as intense as the winters - just shorter) entered the dark, labyrinthian Santa Cave and drank champaign in an ice bar that reminded me of Ice Land in Super Mario Bros. 3..... thanks again to the expert on Rovamiemi - Linda-Fjord- for this treasuremap.
