this is by far the most colorful map i've received by anyone.
i had to do a presentation at lena high school; just 20 minutes
south of galena, a prime tourist destination in northwestern
illinois for that special getaway of hiking, country cooking and crafts
fairs bursting with handmade potpourri-scented wreaths and related materials.

since the day was halloween, all of the little bumpkins were dressed
in a variety of costumes, but the creepiest was an 8th grade boy who
made a life-sized copy of his own face and wore it as a mask.

the creator of this map was a very friendly high school senior who
averted listening to my 45-minute presentation in order to carefully
produce directions to the cheese factory that her family runs, making sure
to proudly point out that they are the "world champion of muenster and brick."

so at the end of the day i had a loaf of apple jack and muenster cheese for my
parents (didnt know what i'd do with all that cheese myself), and a map illustrating
one of the proudest celebrations of someone's family and homestead, an optimisic portrait.
