another one of my several pink maps; this one created by my friend stephane, who i'd met in paris during the year that i lived there. i had always been fascinated with the montmartre area of paris when i was younger (although now there are other areas which interest me much more) and that happens to be where he grew up, so he drew me a map of places that were special to him, including his best friend fred's house and his school. i requested that he point out the rue lepic (by the cemetary) because it was climbing on that steep and serpentine little street as an impressionable high-schooler that i definitively told myself that i WOULD live in paris and learn how to speak french, for myself and for my ancestors. and now, anyone who has seen the film "amelie" can say they've seen a small bit of montmartre as well. i would still recommend a visit. |
