<back> summary

very quick jaunt to Nürnberg, the purpose was DJing one of my friend's parties at a club called Die Rakete (seen on the map).  the person who made this map, Rene, is an artist and architect with an interest in maps, psychogeography, and modular factory-made houses.  and he was nice enough to both take me around to places he correctly guessed i would like, such as the art academy, and also to insist upon drawing me this map highlighting every place i'd seen in my ~24 hours in Nürnberg.

this included the old town with its several homages to the Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer, who was born there in 1471, and died there 57 years later.   Dürer was known for his engravings and woodcuts, and also produced paintings. including "Young Hare," which is commemorated in a striking sculpture in the old town. I found a nice bio and summary of his artwork, including the Hare, on this PAGE . I also noticed a modernised version of the bunny in orange plastic; the city has really embraced this particular work.

Also included in my tour of Nürnberg was the Akademie der Bildenden Künste (Academy of Fine Arts), a big fountain with a golden ring that is supposed to bring good luck if turned 3 times (oh how Euro!), and of course a mighty castle tower.
